Slither - Velvet Revolver (Disjunction)

This video of velvet revolver's Slither is an example of disjuncture as the video is not really related to the lyrics of the song. This sort of video appears a lot in rock videos as they usually just feature the band playing to an audience. Considering we are looking to create a rock genre type video, this is the sort of video that we can use as inspiration.

Disjuncture- Public Enemy-Harder Than You Think

Harder Than You Think by Public Enemy is an example of disjuncture.

Basket Case - Green Day (Illustrate)

This Green Day video illustrates the lyrics in the song as the song is about a mental patient and the video is about him in an asylum. I think that the Mise en Scene in this video works really well as you can clearly see that this place is an asylum and I think that the lead singer portrays this mental patient really well. We will have to consider these options carefully when creating our own video.

Production Schedule (preliminary task)

This was the final thing that we needed to design before we started filming. The production schedule helps us to plan out when we need to film our music video. The majority of the shot will be done on the Monday with Wednesday being used for re shoots for scenes that were not good enough first time around. It also lists what props the characters will need and the technical kit needed, plus another column for additional notes.

Shot list (preliminary task)

To ensure that the filming of the music video went smoothly we were asked to comply a shot list so that we could find out what was needed for each shot. I have set this out by putting in a column which character are required for each shot and the locations of the shots, including their numbers. Next time when designing a shot list I will try to improve the detail that I write as what I wrote was quite brief.

Storyboard (Preliminary Task)

Before we started filming the video first had to hand draw each shot of the 37 shots that we were going to film. This means watching the scenes a few times over and over and then drawing/writing the details for what is happening in each of the shots. This would therefore make it easier when we are shooting each of the scenes as we can just look at our storyboard.

Foo Fighters - The Pretender (Disjuncture)

This part of the video "The Pretender" is in my opinion disjuncture as the meaning of the song seems to be completely ignored. There are riot police in the video which do not appear in the lyrics, then the band and police appear to have a fight inside a mass of red paint which doesn't seem related to the song. I like the idea of creating a disjuncture type video as it doesn't have to be related to the song, which often with rock songs, it may be difficult to replicate what the lyrics are saying with an image.

Busted Preliminary Task

For our first task we had to film ourselves in small groups lip syncing to the 1 and 2nd paragraph of Busted song 'What I go to school for' this task made us realize just how difficult it is to lip sync in time with a backing track. showing how hard it is to make it seem like your singing the song.

Busted Preliminary Video - "That's What I Go To School For"

This is our preliminary video. Unforunately we didn't realise how to cut the ending off so the actual video is only the first 1.15 minutes, whereas this video continues blank for another minute.

Story Boarding - Preliminary Video:

Here is the Story Board for Busted's 'That's what i go to school for' video, including every shot during the first 1 minute and 14 seconds and details on the actors in the shot and the lighting within the shot:

Music Video Planning Sheet:

This first sheet is a shot schedule which tells us the location of each shot and the actors/characters that are in that shot, which is a quicker and more efficient way of planning the shoot:

This next sheet is a production schedule which informs me when we will be shooting; where abouts; the actors required for each shot; the props required; the technical kit needed for the shoot and a risk assesment to make sure that the shoot is safe:
